Well, it is all fixed. Ins repair est was about $1700 which I chose to take and repair myself. About $600 spent and it now looks like this: [IMG] Younger son is happy since he likes the jeep - I think mainly because it is older than he is and...

Thieves :) Just admitting that they 'could' sell it at $126 online but over the counter is $204 is enough to make you want to run away asap. cheers, george.

Rod, I "think" the injectors came back from service with ALL the seals/grommets etc - but that's several years back now... oldtimers is setting in :) I re-used the fuel rail spacers. New intake metal gaskets etc. Sounds like you've had more than...

I ordered new OEM grommets, orings etc, but can't remember the part numbers. Likely I ordered them from Cdan prior his slack retirement - at which point he would have just sent me the right ones without me trying to figure it out :) Yeah, I'd...

Original lasted 22 years. So, $126/22 = approx $6 per year. I'd buy a new OEM one... There are refurbished injectors for $25 - $40, up to you if you want to save some money. My #6 failed a bunch of years back, replaced with new OEM, not had a...

  6. george_tlc replied to the thread alternator break in?.

^ Just AC running and 12.8V at 700rpm seems way too low for a good alternator and good battery (assuming wiring etc are all good). 12.8V is nominal for a fully charge battery voltage with no load. So, seems like your alternator isn't doing a...

Brushes are typically already 'beveled' to sit on the commutator mostly ok. Obviously they fully seat and conform to the arc of the commutator as they wear in. I've not seen voltage issues due to new brushes. Certainly AC clutch engaged and a...

You should have popped the hood to see what was going on. Mate had his compressor seize - lots of smoke from the belt when the clutch activated and screeching from the belt. At least check to see how tight the AC belt is when cool. cheers, george.

^ yes, definitely a problem, along with the muffler bearings that should be rotated on every oil fill or the HG will blow. Dear god... only on mud :) cheers, george.
