Bump..

It looks like it does seal. There is no water on the inside of where the seal hits the door. It looks like its collecting on the inside of the window seal.

Is there a write up on how to remove the VC? I think I may be having the same issue. I have a grinding/humming noise on deceleration and I can feel a vibe in the transfer handle.

I'm not sure. When I swapped fluid in the diffs to base line the rig they were both clear. So it this amount of metal flakes in the tranny normal?

So I took the pan off today and rinsed the filter out with carb cleaner. There are some shavings on the magnets but not as much as I thought there would be. There were also shavings in the filter. It looks like the PO serviced the tranny before as there was orange RTV used for the gasket and...

No red metalic paint. Just a lot of flakes left in the oil drain pan when I emptied the used oil back into the jugs for recycle.

This was my first thought as well. I just rebuilt the front knuckles. The diff oil appeared to be in good shape when I drained the axel. Its a good thing I rebuilt it because the trunon (sp) bearing was shot.
