    Greetings

Thanks for the welcome guys. I see what you mean Greg, I have bumped into a number of SA-expats, quite interesting actually. My company want me here for at least 2 years, but they have given me the option of staying on after that, and I reckon we might just, the lure of easily available parts...

    Greetings

Thanks guys, I'll try Tireland then. I now know where that is, as I bought the Cruiser near there! Thanks for the offer Bill, I'm just not too sure about this thing yet, only got it last night, so I need to punish it nearby to see what breaks first. The PO obviously hasn't used the little...

    Greetings

Hey guys, I have just moved out from Cape Town, South Africa a month ago. Was transfered here by my company. So far, it's been real great, but it got alot better yesterday as I bought a LX 450. Sure, it's not pure breed, but close enough I reckon. I have to get used to the luxury, as back...

Cruiser get together in Cape Town

Yes, there are many official trails, usually lasting a day or so. Probably around 40 or 50 within a 4 hour driving radius of Cape Town.

Cruiser get together in Cape Town

We decided to have a local outing down here in Cape Town for the Land Cruiser Club of South Africa. Managed to get about 14 Cruisers together for a day of fun in the dirt. No major offroading, but a great get together. Thought I'd post some pics of the day for you chaps to see. Cruisers...

    Valve Noise

I had the same on my 62, when I opened it up for the 3rd time, I noticed slight wear on the rockershaft. If I set the valves, then lifted the valve end of the rocker with a screwdriver, I noticed the gap increased. So I set it again but this time putting some tension on the rocker, and now it...

    more lift

I agree with Dtrain, SOA. My 62 is so much better with the SOA, much better flex, 35"s fit under perfectly. I also went with the 4.88's, but I have the h55f. Gearing is exactly what I was looking for, Cruises happily on the highway at 70 mph, doing about 3000 rpm. I have found my fuel...

How to remove rocker and valves?

Unbolt the rocker and remove the pushrods, they tend to bend if you don't lift the head off vertically.

    Newbiw engine question

If you are running unleaded gas, yes, you would need to put in an additive, else the valve seats will eventually erode.

    Fj62 ?

I had the same, turned out to be 2 burnt valves. Redid the head and it had a new lease on life.

    Motor Mounts

Did my mounts last weekend. Also jacked the engine up an inch, then took the strut off the side of the block (3 bolts). Had to remove the alternator to get to it. OEM mounts are also very expensive here, $170 a piece, so I have reused the original steel plates and bonded some new rubber in...
