My timing chain broke on my 1997 LC, when it was repaired, not long after, I hear this clicking sound from my engine, had it shipped to Trollhole Cruisers, they diagnosed that the WIX oil filter starved the engine of oil, cost me a new engine, from this point on, I'll mainly use OEM.
Update from NAPA Filters.. I received this letter today and it reads:
This letter is in reference to a used NAPA Gold Spin-on lube filter, part number 1348 submitted to us for review. It was reported to have been in service August 2019 on your 1997 Toyota Land Cruiser for 310 service miles. It...
I'm so sorry to hear "no fault found" and like me, you lost an engine due to a faulty WIX filter, I really don't expect them own up in my case either, although the filter demolished my engine. I've also been asked to send in the filter.
Wanted to let you all know that I've filed a claim with Wix and I'll keep you all posted as to the outcome. The place that replaced my motor did have the filter and they've sent it back to me.
I know that this is an old thread and I want to add that I just got my 1997 FZJ80 back after being without it for over 5 years.. It all started with my timing chain breaking and trying to locate a head due to mine being warped, after the guy finally got the timing chain on and returned it to me...
It took close to 2 years for me to finally find a head that I could use, after getting my LC back and driving it for close to a month, I start to hear what sounds like a car running off diesel fuel only to find out that my rod bearings are now an issue. Looks like sparkles are in my oil.
Should...
Just found out after close to 4 months or more of waiting that the 2nd head that I got was warped 26 thousands of an inch, really thought I'd have my 1997 LC back on the road by now. Now I'm back to square one, would anyone have any suggestions to help me? Please..
Timing chain broke, replacing it and just got news from machine shop that my head is un-usable. I'm totally at a loss now, where can I find a head for my 1997 LC? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
After taking off the cylinder head cover, the camshaft timing gear was busted in half. Not sure what would have caused that. Lucky this happened in my drive way. No warning, it just won't crank.
What all is involved in replacing my timing chain? It is broken. Would I have to take the head off as well? And should I need to check anything else for this type of project? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you so very much AppleTech, just knowing from this point where to focus is a big help. Would you know where I can get a factory service manual? I have the Chilton repair manual. I had called a local repair last week to see what they charge for a timing chain and was quoted $2500. Is that...
