I cut the pipe off with a sawzall. :D The bolts were easier to remove off vehicle that way.
But my y-pipe, cats, even the bottom of the manifold is very rusty, have bunch of leaks, and some parts I couldn't even get a weld to hold anymore. Replacing the exhaust as well.

Mine was in spec per machine shop, but I chose to get it for an extra $200 last month. I had already budgeted for that and have been within my budget up to that point, so it was an easy decision for me.
After reading your issue and what you have replaced already, I started thinking it could be your fuel injectors before I got to this sentence. I'm don't have the knowledge of some great minds in this forum, so I'd definitely wait more experienced people to chime in before getting into pulling...

That is a good point. That's the type of feedback I was looking for. There must have been a reason they built that assembly with that many pieces.
Actually my setup would eliminate two connection points since the proposal is to replace the 3 red dotted pieces on the picture with just one hose.
Not trying to do a delete, just want to replace the brass pipes (the U and the long 3-way piece) with one aluminum T-connector and a longer hose. If I'm not mistaken Toyota went that way with the 100 series.
