Got the 9.5 built threw in some used gears and the oem G80 locker. So far so good. Getting close to 1000 miles on it now. You can check out my updates here if you’d like https://youtube.com/@overlandtowater
Just know I’m awkward on camera but getting better.
Blew the 10 bolt up in less than 300 miles doing hot rod crap. Building a semi float 14 bolt to replace it now. Cut brackets and backing plate brackets off the 10 bolt to weld to the sf14. The sF 14 is out of a gmt400 heavy half ton. I will be using the brakes from the 10 bolt on the 9.5 also.
9.5 on the way... 99 k2500 8 lug though... plan on swapping the axle shafts out with heavy half's from Richmond gear. it already has 4.10 gears open diff supposedly which is what I want over the G80. I plan on installing a lunchbox locker in if it is a open carrier... well as soon as i can...
g80 parts and the driver side spider gear... So the ring and pinion looks good so now I have a dilemma rebuild the 10 bolt with a differnt carrier (non g80) or go ahead with the 9.5" 14 bolt semi float plan?
Well that didn’t take long. Something in the 10 bolt decide it wanted out, I assume it’s parts of the g80. This is the second 10 bolt. I think I’m going to upgrade to a semi float 14 bolt. Sam 9.5”
I used the oem dodge coil buckets. Just cut them off the dodge welded them to wfo frame plates and welded them to the frame. The Chevy and dodge frame’s are the same width. So it may have lined up with the Chevy shock mount but I'm not sure its been so long... but to get the measurement I...
It drives ,self corrects all the way up to 80. Also crammed the brakes a few times just to test my frame side mounts. Waiting on limit straps and the cure for the 1 ton steering.
Drilled and tapped my transmission cross member for the start of the belly pan cut up the original front skid plate for the belly pan. I still have to put in a rear cross member for the skid but it is progress
