To have two batteries in serie and to take 12 volt of one of the two batteries is not a good idea. When you want 12 volt out of a 24 volt (2x12volt batteries) system, use a 24-12 volt converter.

Could it be possible that the fawlty turbo was damaged so that pieces of metal from the turbo ended up in the intake? Most of the times cilinder 3 and 4 are damaged when the turbo was mechanicly damaged.
