My "grinding" description was incorrect. It sounds more like the starter does not have enough emph to properly turn over the engine. I definitely need to find some time to check the plunger, contacts and teeth. Thanks for the picture and replies. Doug

I think its strange that the starter worked fine prior to the PM rebuild and now is having intermediate issues. I am going to pull it and check out the components.

I planned to have my S/C rebuilt by Magnuson during my HG replacement procedure last year. After removal, I checked for play and noise and found neither. I replaced the oil and popped it back in. The S/C has been in the truck for over 120,000 miles.:eek:
