I received my rebuild kit from NAPA today... there is no replacement for the retainer clip which holds the check ball for the AP intake.
This is a '76 carb.
Any ideas on sourcing a replacement clip?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Note to self... after consulting the FSM, go directly to the faq section.
Thanks MC. I didn't see the side cover gasket part number in my initial scan of the faq. Thanks for posting it here.
The attached pic is taken from the FSM with pointers to my problem area. I'm hoping to source a gasket without ordering the gasket set shown in lower right (would someone confirm this is the gasket for me?).
Can this gasket be had independent of the complete set?
Or, will RTV hold a seal...
Jell got it done. $275 for the new tank plus the ride... add a gasket for the sender unit.
Not bad for Toyota original gas tank.
Thanks much for the feedback.

Tanks-to-pans.com does not cover the '78. Thanks for the line on these guys.
Dgangle... I will speak to Jeff tomorrow. I appreciate your reference and I'm sure he will as well.
I'll circle back and report the results.

Called CDan once and left a message. Never heard back... our local dealership had never heard of TLCA and discounts were out of the question.
I'll ring Jeff on Monday.
Thanks for the help,

My '78 fj40 has developed a leak resulting from years of trash collection and moisture... and worse, neglect. I don't care to attempt restoring the original, but with the price of an OEM tank, I may have to reconsider.
Anyone like to chime in with options and sources?
Cool Cruisers is offering...
Intake leak is a definite possibility... widen that to vacuum leaks. I used WD-40 to find mine.
good luck, welcome, and post up some pics of your find.
x2 on post #6. Sounds like you may be running a bit rich.
Vapor lock doesn't sound right... my experience with vapor lock was that I had problems restarting after warm-up during the hot months.
Sounds like your timing is a bit retarded. I have found that setting my timing with a vacuum gauge advances the timing (at least per the BB) and gives me plenty of top-end. I was cruising at 80 on the interstate just the other day. I'm guessing that this is because my 2F has been desmogged and...
