understanding how and when to use center and rear lockers

skshepherd, I too have a stock 99 and would like to gain more experience (off road that is). If you are coming to Colorado maybe we could meet up. There is a gent on this forum named PINT (also in Colorado) that may be able to teach us a thing or two about off roading the correct way...

    Interior Air Flow

All, Hard to explain but here goes. I noticed that when my climate control system is turned off there is still residual air (hot or cold depending on what the temp dial is set at) that is coming from the front vents. This occurs when the fan is set to off, happens on both the recirculation...

Tired of tires! Cracks in TREAD of my Michelin LTX m/s

Nitto Terra Grappler 285/75/16's will fit in your stock configuration. The spare should also fit, does on mine. I would purchase them again. Good wear, minimal noise difference from stock, no rubbing and I think it makes the truck look handsome, thus making me more handsome. Now, if I...

    Windshield Replacement

For what it's worth, I just had mine replaced last week with PGW. I was referred to the guy by Slee Offroad who I was told only uses aftermarket glass. PPG is now PGW (Pittsburg Glass Works) and is not made in China per their website. They have plants in Berea, KY; Creighton and...

    anti-theft measures?

(Cheap anti-theft) If you must park in that location , you could install a simple kill switch that would open the relay between the ignition switch and the coil (the truck would not start unless the switch was on). The switch could be hidden anywhere. I had this on my 1959 VW Transporter...

    New Stereo

I will take some photos. Having watched the install the most difficult part was the amp placement. The passenger seat had to be removed. Other than that it was fairly straight forward.

    New Stereo

The enclosure is a run of the mill Q Logic. It is ported but I have the port sealed and have stuffed it with batting. It has quick releases so I can remove it at a moments notice. I placed it behind the second row with the sub's front facing the rear window. I may build a down firing...

    New Stereo

Hello All, It's been a long time since my last post, life has a way of well.. getting in the way. At any rate, I thought I would share my new stereo install last week with everyone. Like many of you I wanted the system to look stock and wanted to avoid any cutting of my Cruiser. I...

There is no such thing as a cracked exhaust manifold on the 100...

I am not sure that is accurate. My 99 has a cracked right. Maybe a anomaly, not sure. In Toyota terms: manifolds don't crack, rather they get small holes/gaps caused by a seperation in the metal. They don't crack? Shut up Toyota.

Looking at buying 1998 - What should I look for?

The 2000+ has manifolds that can crack. 2000's (only this year??) have tranny issues. Only a slight number Torque converter is faulty ( on a few also. Not alot are seen) 1998-1999 Have the manifold issue too. Listen for ticking.

    Paint the Wheels.

Trunk, Thank you yet again, I should just place you on speed dial. I may try to steel wool them lightly and the respray myself. If I mess up I can get them sand blasted. I wonder if they can be anodized, guess that depends on aluminum content. Hmmm

    Paint the Wheels.

All, While cleaning my 100 wheels (16-inch aluminum alloy ) this weekend It appears as if the clear coat is coming off a bit (if there is a clear coat). It looks like pitting and is only on the insides of the spokes. I was hesitant to use steel wool. Has anyone successfully taken the...

    Squeaking Heater Fan

Did you make any headway with this. My heater fan has started making a ticking noise (on all settings).

    Bilstein HD's

All, I have searched and am now confused (as usual). I would like to install Bilstein HD's, do I have to level it out or are these plug and play? I have read about turning the T-bars but do not want to take the chance of having CV leakage. Do these really lift the truck +/- an inch...
