Engine off, ignition on, I'm not hearing any whirling. Just tried again on dirt road turning switch off and on, forward and reverse, but only flashing lights. Looks like I'll be going across town next week to give it up to the Toyota shop. Thanks......
93 LC with factory lockers, 180k miles, bone stock...
Did the front axles a while back with parts from CDan and recently had the head gasket, tires, brakes, etc done at a local shop. As soon as I got the truck back I tried the lockers (for the first time in a long time) but they didn't engage...
Many thanks for the replies.... At this point there's two starters that work perfectly in the 96LX - but when either of those starters are in the 93LC the truck does not start and only makes a horrible noise.
So I strongly doubt it's the starter.
Here's a picture of the flywheel on the 93 LC...
Thanks for the link, George. Just to make sure it's not the starter I just finished taking the oem starter out of the LC and putting it in the LX. Starts perfectly, so I see no reason to buy a reman starter - the LC starter works fine.
No idea how to post a sound clip, but believe me, it's a...
Thanks for the replies. I actually rebuilt the starter about 50k miles ago with a kit from CDan, and the starter I stuck in there is an after-market out of my 96 LX.
I don't know for sure it's even the starter making the noise....
93 LC with almost 200k made a terrible noise when I turned the key a few months ago. Tried a few times and didn't start, just made the loud, bad noise. Friend said try taking it from park to neutral and after a few more tries of the key it finally didn't make the noise and started (tho I kinda...
The radiator on my '93 is leaking as well. I replaced the radiator on my '96 lx450 a few months ago with a KOYO from ebay and it seems to be doing fine. Any reason this same radiator wouldn't fit my '93 LC? Seems like it should, but figured I'd ask the experts here first.

Congrats on the new ride! There is indeed a wealth of info in the FAQ and elsewhere around here. Grab a beverage of your choice, kick back, and spend some quality time reading and learning... :flipoff2:
The bottle jack between the axle and frame did the trick! :D
The passenger side was tighter because I didn't want to mess with the brake line, so after I got the spacer in, I put the spring (with the compressor on one side) up as far as it would go, then a few hard (and gratifying) kicks popped...
Yes, took the bottom nut off both shocks. Don't see any lines in trouble.
The only thing I did different than the picture in the FSM is put the 6 ton stands on the frame behind the tires - not in front. Was going by a post that said to put the stands "behind the control arm frame mount". Well...
I'm trying to put two Mr Gasket 1" spacers on the top of the springs to correct the Stink Bug look (and low headlight shine) I got from installing an ARB front bumper. Did a search, and what little I could find sounded like an easy job...
Got the wheels both off, the sway bar disconnected (tire...
