Well I saved money for the last five years to fix my Fj60. I am not finacing. But I saw this truck and thought it looked good. The cost to repair mine is real close to the same.
I do not know how some guys get work done so cheap. I just do not know what to do.
What am I missing? Car shopping it is hard to buy something in the 30k price range. Pickup trucks are 40-65k. Why would I need to be independently wealthy to buy a $35,000 truck? Older trucks should cost more beings made from metal and not plastic and being emissions exempt.??
I guess. I wouldn't need bodywork to drive it.
Restorations in my area seem to be around 50-120k. In the pnw if one doesn't repair even the smallest rust spots they tend to double or tripple in size each year. Our summers are July 5 to Sept 1 first and second winters are from Sept 1 till June...
Engine rebuild 9k qoute h&h diesel.
Transmission 2-6k depending
Frame work 3k
Body work 3-5k
Paint 5-10k
Rear axle 1-5k
Front axle 2-7k
Things can add up fast. The guys that have the time and ability do their own work greatly under value the cost of time/labor.
did you ever figure out the issues with your transmission? Is this the same transmission that was rebuilt 3 times the first 10k miles? What ended up being that issue/fix?

On the other hand if it was a small cruiser shop that you bought them from maybe see if you can work out some sort of deal. Shipping kills some of these...
I don't think that mpg is at the top of the original posters list. Unique engine swap was what he was seeking. I am about to swap out my sbc 350/th350 engine for something that can do 60mph. Any engine I put in will get at least double the 10mpg I got with the 350.
A new truck costs about...
