Thanks for all the great pics and updates. I just ordered one of the "prototype" J-Pipes from HD Auto in Austrtalia. The price was right. Supposebly just need to tap the turbo flange. I have a ball bearing GT3582 turbo in the garage from a previous project. I'm going to get the Mamba .82...
Anyone have any luck repainting or redyeing a wheel? My leather is decent but the original coating is going. Is there a place that can just respray it?
I'm doing a heated seat install in my 80. I have a pair of tan ES300 seat heater switches. I was hoping to find a pair of the factory pigtails that connect the switches in the wiring harness. Mine did not come with them.
Thanks,
Chuck
Managed to back into my 96 (not Lexus) last night and nail the rear drivers side door. Panel popped out but it's creased. I'd like to fix it but I realize that body and paint work adds up fast. I'd estimate about $700-800 based on last years deer hit on the other side.
Found a matching color...
I was very happy with the Magnaflow Y-pipe and second cat that I installed on my 96 last year. My only warning is to not use their gaskets. spring for the Toyota gaskets. The Magnaflow gasket between the first and second cat just blew. I followed someones advice and used the Toyota gaskets...
Sure enough the crank pulley came apart. There is a 1/4" thick rubber part between the inner hub and the outer sheaves. The bond between the rubber and the outer part of the pull separated. So when you keep tightening the belts and they still squeal when cold, check your pulley. here's a...
Things were quiet for awhile then the truck threw both alternator belts on the way to work. A close look revealed that the outer part of the crank pulley was up against the timing cover on the motor. Looks like the rubber finally let loose. Perhaps it was the 8deg weather. When I crawled...
My A/C compressor cycles on even when the A/C is turned off. This only happens when I start the car and it is cold.
This combined with the real fast idle when starting cold is annoying. The car starts, the idle races for a second and the A/C compressor decided to cycle for a second to add...
The crank bolt is tight. I was assuming the outer ring of the pulley and the belt part was separated from the center hub by a rubber ring. If I take a big screwdriver I can pry between the timing cover and the pulley and see the outer part move around. No idea what is normal though. I'll see...
Has anyone ever heard of or seen a crank pulley go bad on an FZJ80?
When you first start my 80 it makes a bit of a growling sound coming from the belts. It seems to go away fairly quickly. When you engage the A/C when it's cold it makes alot of noise. Sounds like a bad idler or compressor...
The headrests go up and down as well as tilt if that's what you are referring to. My interior is the tan (oak?) color. The headrests are a decent match and everything looks of good quality. Actually amazing cosmetics for the price of the units. The fit in the seat back was a bit snug since...
