Update. Broken rod punched through the block. Not sure how this would happen on a 60,000 mile Toyota motor. However the owners wife mentioned it ran fine while she let it idle for 2 hours to charge the battery

Thanks for the input everyone. We will be back under the hood today. I was concerned that it may have been a hydro lock that blew through the cylinder. But with steel sleeves it is very doubtful. I should add that there is only 60k miles on this engine, it is also supercharged, chipped etc...

We didn't have it running long enough to be sure. Sounded a little odd when turning over. Also when we manually turned the motor over a few times we hit a spot where we could no longer turn the crank. We back turned it then went at it with the starter.

At this point the motor will not even turn over, I may have found the maximum point of abuse these will take.

When mine ran away the first time I was at a stop sign so just held the brake and let the clutch out to stall it. The next time I was going 65 down I95 and was quite an adventure. I used the brake to keep revs down until I could get to shoulder, then stalled with clutch and brake. Fortunately...

1HD-FT 24 valve 4.2ltr. I know this is a long shot, just trying to salvage a rebuilt head and hoping to avoid buying a new head. Here's hoping someone somewhere has an old junk head laying around.

Problem is these clamps can not be purchased separately. They are cast and machined with the heads. However if you could locate a couple of these clamps I can machine these locally to work with my head.

How about a head for 1HD-FT, in any condition. I only need couple of the shaft saddle clamps

Update, Block and pistons are fine. Sourcing the rocker arm and shaft clamp locally from a marine Yanmar motor. The 6LP is a dead ringer for the HD-FT. I've gone over the parts with a micrometer and don't seem to find a difference. I plan on utilizing plastigauge before fully reassembling...

Does cold starting refer to cold weather starts or when engine is cold. I asked the tech at Proffit's about this when they swapped my engine and was told I wouldn't have to worry about it in hot climates.
