    Hj61 rear brakes

Are the hold down pins longer on the Hj61 than all the other landcruisers? I used carquest #17183 which lists even the HJ60 so i thought that it would be the same. Pins barely made it to the whole on the shoes.

    Hj61 rear brakes

Hi all. I got a spring kit to replace my drum brakes. I gave FJ62 as the model because Hj61s dont exist in their data base. All the parts are correct as i thought excep the shoe hold down pins are too short. Am i right in assuming that someone made a mistake putting together the kit? I had...

New battery cables and terminal recommendations.

Hi Have an Hj61 with worn out cables with lead terminals. I hate how poorly my connections have been for so long and want to make up new ones. Recently my low side positive arced all night and destroyed my year old post. Would you recommend brass or copper post connections? Crimped or...

    HJ61 4wd problem

Yes, thanks for all of that good info. I checked today finally and my problems must be related to the vacuum solinoids. There are broken wires going into the bottom solinoid and no vacuum hoses! I don't understand how the 4wd even works with all of this not connected. Kinda embarassing that I...

    HJ61 4wd problem

Hi people 2 problems 89 HJ61 - I've had a problem the last couple years with 4wd high. Engaging the button on the dash puts the light on and shifts into 4wd, but, there is a lot of grinding and vibrating noises going on, so I haven't been using it because I figured I'd fix it in the future...

Unusal Brake problems on 89 HJ61

Hi, I never ended up needing the part. I must have been getting contamination in the master cylinder. All I did was order a new rubber cap for the master cylinder and bled as much of the old fluid out as I could, then refilled. I has happened since then, but, only mildly. Sorry I can't help...

    New OME rear suspension help

Thanks guys. All good information. It' s funny how I've dreaded doing this work for years because I didn't know how it would turn out since I had no experience with suspension. It's so empowering to do it and find out that it's not such a mystery after all. Now, I know exactly what's involved...

    New OME rear suspension help

Hi, sucessully installed new rear medium springs and sport OME shocks. I installed the 50 mm 2-3 inch medium load springs and shocks since I thought that my 61 had 2 inch lift. The old springs had a broken leaf each and more on the way! But to my shagrin, the new springs which look heavier did...

Builds A Troopy Finds Its Owner

Hi guys. I saw his thread and just had to post that I have the very same philosophy regarding the engineering of throw away products and why I love the longevity of my HJ61 so much. I believe that we should be moving towards a one life; one vehicle world instead of the current state of...

Rear shocks and springs for HJ61

Yeah, there is a high risk company that will insure anyone. Mine would be 2.5 times higher for just one vehilce for what I'm paying now to have both vehicles insured. All other companies have filed no RHD vehicle clauses with the insurance regulator.

Rear shocks and springs for HJ61

Sorry, just saw your response - must have my notifications off. North Bay's around 50k, so, no, I haven't heard of Dr. Donald Funk. I only know a few people here, mostly deer squirrels and Foxes, where I live in the woods. Not sure what I'm going to do about shocks. I just found out that my...

Rear shocks and springs for HJ61

Thanks simonliew, very much appreciated. That saves me freight, duty and brokerage fees which would have cost more than twice the price of the shocks themselves! Side note: was born in Winnipeg but was moved to Ontario in the 60's Do you have any recommendations for rear spring replacement...

Rear shocks and springs for HJ61

Checked ebay.ca no shocks listed in Canada, also not one shock for 60 series with 2 inch lift even from the US. Someone here must know something because I know that I'm not the only 60 left in Canada. Thanks for any help Tim
