    transfercase removal

Toyota engineers again were sleeping when designing this gearbox and transfer. You have to get it both down. I just did it alone 3 weeks ago using a 30$ chain block from the top. I let the bellhousing on the engine, felt it was easier to remove and reinstall. The opening in the floor is enough...

H55F counter shaft gear sleeve available?

I just found from INA and SKF hardened sleeves... I guess the one I have on here (IR 35x40x20) ist the one I have installed here. So I guess it should be hard enough?

H55F counter shaft gear sleeve available?

I would guess 300'000km. I owned it 120'000km and always used Redline MT90 and changed it EVERY 30'000km! While I owned it had 3.8tons and Turbo on the 1HZ. We did overland from Canada to Argentina and just got back 2 months ago. www.pawsontour.com for more infos.

H55F counter shaft gear sleeve available?

My H55F failed few months ago in Quito. Countershaft front bearing failed, but I think the reason was too much play on the other side because Toyota was so smart to let run a bearing on an expensive, not enough hardened shaft! In Quito we put an SKF sleeve on it and now I have the trans out...

    Factory 1HZT

Damien- thanks for the link in the other thread! Talking to that Bosch Lady in Cusco last year she told me she gets pretty often Coaster with 1HZ-T. I tried to get more infos back then but she wouldn't know if it's original or not, just that they were Turbo models. I would guess the peruvian...

    Builds 1HZ-T HZJ78 All-Climate Expo Build

he said 270$ for rebuilt so 200$ is a good price! That's why I said, not worth it to pay 80$ just for a simple clean. Yep, they set all pressures at equal levels. I was there all the time and checked the work. I usually do EVERYTHING myself on the car and if I can't like in this case I sit...

    Builds 1HZ-T HZJ78 All-Climate Expo Build

I see... first time I see this rubber protection. Looks interesting! Although I must admit on my 120'000km I never had issues with dirt. BUT I also regrease the bearings every 30-40k and did the birfs about 80k ago and will do it again in a few months when I get home. That Marlin seal is...

    Builds 1HZ-T HZJ78 All-Climate Expo Build

Damien, I heard about you at some Diesel shop last week in Lima ;) Great work! On the Turbo: we made 120'000km so far with LOTS of load (3.6-3.8tons) and so far engine (about 300'000km) holding fine. BUT I always keep an eye on EGT (never over 550-600Celcius pre-Turbo) and no more than 8psi...

HZJ75 Power Steering getting harder and harder...

yes I did. But I drove 2000km since the rebuilt.. don't think that there is any air left. Now with high air pressure I still notice little bit harder steering at idle, but much better than with low tire pressure. I saw you can order the vanes and keys from Toyota. Will do that then when I get...

HZJ75 Power Steering getting harder and harder...

Hi guys I have another problem with my 1993 HZJ75. Since a while my steering wheel is getting harder and harder to steer. While driving I only feel it a little bit, but at IDLE at low air pressure I can't turn the wheel anymore! I have to rev a little bit to about >900RPM then I can turn the...
