The LexCruiser was in a front end collision in 2020 and the Lexus grill and headlights were not salvageable. They are pretty hard to find, so it’s now a Toyota up front Lexus in the back. Only has the center diff locker, no axle lockers. Does leak some oil when parked. One or two drops a...
I need a set of headlights for my 97 LX 450. I would also consider a set of standard FJ80 headlights since I have a spare Toyota grill that would work with them. They don't have to be perfect, but they do need to be usable. Appreciate any offers.
Just to follow up on this, here is what I did. I never could get a shop to give me much concrete info, so I just went for it myself. I removed the engine and transmission then bought a used porta-power type frame repair kit off ebay. Using that along with my grinder and welder, I was able to...
I sent some pics to a local shop here in Louisville, and it's a bit confusing, but I believe they are estimating ~12hr to correct the frame. Which puts that job in the 1100 - 1500 range and that's out of the question. I may get a second opinion if I can find another local shop.
I'm still...
Thanks for the advice.
The initial price is low - likely less than 1k, though the specifics are TBD.
I'll see if I can find a frame shop that will give me an estimate over the phone but I think I'm leaning towards a part out though it pains me. I'll post back what I find out.
My buddy has a stock 97 LX with 283k on it which was involved in a front end collision - not his fault. No airbags deployed, but his insurance totaled it. He's not mechanical, I am, and seeing the pics I thought the damage looks repairable. So we start tearing into it and I get the radiator...
I need to rebuild the head in my 97 daily driver but would like to avoid the stress and downtime by rebuilding a head on the bench and then swapping it over a weekend. At which point I can pass along a good head to the next guy hopefully.
Let me know if any one has a good one they like to...
Hi. I'm looking for a head, preferably with the cam, in good shape for my 97. I plan to rebuild it on the bench and then swap on to my LC hopefully over a weekend. If you have one, how much + shipping to 40059? Thanks.
Update: I added some more grease to the birfs and the noise is gone. Glad it was something easy. I didn't get the "One Shot" grease, but I did get some NLGI 0 grease instead of the usual NLGI 2, so it flowed a little better.
I still have the other "hesitation", but I think I can track it...
That makes sense. And yes I only hear the noise when I turn and pull away. I have a feeling that they have been abused. When I repacked everything last fall I noticed that there were discolorations on the outside of the birf - like heat marks that match up with each of the 6 balls. I'll try...
