Got an invite to do a Victorian High Country trip in 6 weeks. Figured I need to finish this thing, spend a week wheeling it interstate & then bring it home to sell.
Runs and drives well, everything works like factory. Only thing I need is a 1HZ...
Not the best photos, but there we go.
1HZ + H150 out, a lot lighter than the 1FZ with auto hanging off the back. Hard to see but the tires on the white 80 are dead flat, 4"coils with no weight on them are too tall for my crane. No idea how I got...
Tunnel graft from underneath, that's just white sika, not light.
Cross member mounted for now as per this thread: 80 Series H151F 5 Speed Manual Transmission Swap - Includes RHD HDJ81 & LHD FZJ80 -...
Time for another update, boy do I have a lot of them to catch up on....the little time I get these days I am is usually spent doing something small to the truck or working on our house and I don't have much time to get things documented. I also...
The next hurdle to tackle was the arms. I got some tips for the bend from Nick Gustafson on instagram and learned an important lesson. With a swag bender, whatever the angle finder sees is double of what the bend is... dully noted. The arms seem...
It would be possible to tow a 40 with the added power of the turbo but I think you'd be pushing the limits of the 80. From the factory a stock 80 is rated to tow ~5000lbs. I would guess most 40's are in the 4-5k lb range depending on how it's...
Next up was the sway bar. This was kind of a nightmare. I borrowed a mag drill from an acquaintance which made one side a breese.
Issue 1. I started running into issues because drilling through both walls of the frame and keeping the holes...
Is the rubber in your Harmonic balancer damaged and the outer ring slipped in place so it does not show an accurate location anymore? If it's running well, and the timing marks are that far off, that's the only other solution.
Where is the video of the truck up on the two step smokin those Iroks? On a serious note... Does Ben have a write up or magazine article on this sweet build?
Hi all. Thank you so much for all the input, information, ideas and advice.
I've run out of time so I'm going to let this one ride until I get back from a trip. We'll give it some good testing both in transit and offroad.
Everything is running...
I'm onto my 3rd Blue Heeler.... and for the most part, Australian Shepherds and Border Collies in general have been a part of my life since I was a boy

Doing some work on the farm…
Man she is a blast to drive. I’m reminded of just how fun the feedback of an older vehicle can be for the driving experience.
My new vehicles beep and boop and vibrate every time I don’t maintain a perfect lane and...

If it's on/off power wise I'd double check that the throttle position sensor is dialed in per the FSM.
Do you notice a difference if the PWR button for the transmission is on? Mine is always on (but the bulb is burned out) and one time it was...
Hi Mud, just came back from the hut last week, it was very dry, no mud or puddles, just dust and sun, but great to be there as always, the 80 series doing a great job taking us there and back.
No major improvements to the hut, just enjoying the...
