Just to add to the photo doctoring nerd'ness...
That eye dropper icon, you can use to "sample" the off-white you used on your "aged" image, then replace the white on the barcode as described..
to color-match. Should be able to get pretty close, and can smudge or blend any splice line.
Anyone know what the specs are on the oem water temp sender? Or the aluminum thermostat housing? I have a SpeedHut aftermarket sender that is 1/8 NPT, and I have a 1/8 NPT to 1/4 NPT couple. But, I tried a 3/8 BSPT to 1/4 NPT, but it seems a bit too big? It's not threading in to the thermostat...
Oh man! Glad you said that, @FJ60Cam .. before I went down that rabbit hole trying to wire the oem water temp and oil PSI sensors to the SpeedHut multi-gauge! :bang:
Ok, should be easy enough. The water temp sensor is easy to access. The oil PSI sensor looks like a bell housing with a single...
@FJ60Cam Yeah, you weren't kidding.. the gauges look awesome, but especially the multi-gauge.. the wiring is a little crazy. Not quite sure what transfers over from the OEM gauge, like the high-beam indicator, brake, battery lights, etc. Since ideally, I'd like to use just the standard OEM...
If I ever hit those 6 lucky numbers.. I'd have @orangefj45 at Valley Hybrid swap out my 1990 FJ62 for a new crate ERod LS3 6.2L .. since I have to deal with lovely California smog rules.
Right now it's all just fantasy, so I've never really researched the details.. but I ballpark figured it'd be...
I used this one in my '90 FJ62. I needed to make 3 individual connectors, like a mini harness, but I like that it has a small knob that I can turn to adjust the speed of the blinking. No need to wire in a bunch of heat-generating LED hyperflash resistors.
Just received my new SpeedHut gauges from @FJ60Cam at Mosley Motors. They look AWESOME!
I think I have the SpeedHut lighting inverter and the "main" wiring figured out, but I'm worried about this yellow sensor wire to the tachometer.
There seems to be a corresponding yellow wire on the OEM dash...
Even the early/first iterations are pretty damn close. They fit to my aftermarket made-in-china, ATOTO double-din headunit perfectly.
I think it's pretty much ready to go.. but I can see wanting it to be just a little bit "more perfect". Nice item.. and badly needed, I bet.
so.. a wire wheel is smoother than sanded? And by "profile" you mean the roughness, or grit? of the surface? What's the best grit sandpaper to use prior to epoxy primer?
And then, is there a proper grit to wet or dry sand the epoxy primer, before final paint layer?
Ok, thanks!

Dumb questions.. but this would install fine in an FJ62, with the Trail-Tailor bracket?
How does this look at night? The numbers glow greenish, right? Does this use the OEM light bulb illumination, or does it have it's own LED?
So the speedo dial, connects to the speedo cable? But there's also...
