I will have to take a closer look when I'm at home... my work computer won't load most of the pics :(
Thanks you for the information!! Looks like you've built and rebuilt that rig a time or two!!
Thank you for your insight!!!
Eventually, this rig will no longer be my daily driver. At this point in time I am just putting parts and pieces and ideas in the right order for when I go full stupid. I know where I am, I know where I want to be, I have a lot to learn to figure out how to get...
Fair enough question..
I don't want or need the upgrade to coil over shocks. I like the availability to get ahold of replacement shock absorbers as long as they are of the stock configuration variety. My issue is that the amount of lift (around the 3.5-4" range) is the caster bushings are...
I've seen a couple trucks were builders used all of the factory steering, factory coils, and factory shocks and made their own 3 link setup.. anyone have any actual links to builds? Or ideas where to get frame side brackets or axle side brackets or link pieces to fabricate? I'd like to do this...
The transfer case does not need to be removed to take the front output housing off. You will need to lower the transmission cross member and remove the indicator switch from the top of the output housing to get it out. You will need to make sure the transfer case is 'locked' by means of center...
Since I'm treading into rarely swum waters, I've researched the center diff on these rigs a lot. A LOT!! And I get it, my situation is unique. These are very robust units and most don't see issues till north of 300k miles if at all. I picked up a used unit with around 175k miles, because it was...
I am sorry, my 4x4Labs is a dual swing arm. A couple weeks ago I asked a transfer case question and got crickets.... kinda thinking this forum might have finally outlived its time.
Maybe try getting ahold of Luke at 4x4Labs? Holiday weekend might take a little bit to get back to you, but I'm...
I've searched everything my tunnel vision mind can come up with, what is the difference in the bearing kit for the V versus the non viscous transfer case?
My LX is viscous coupling, I can find some semi inexpensive rebuild kits for the non v/c cases. None for the V/C case.
Any help or info...
Pretty similar to the vibration mine picked up when I changed the gears to 5.29's. We drained the fluid from my transfer case and it came out chunky and grey, chassis stethoscope narrowed it down to a failed bearing in the rear of the center transfer case.
I run stock driveshafts on 2.5 OME...
yeah, had a good talk with Mark last night. I'm going to try and coordinate with him for a second opinion before ripping into it. He said he's seen these things make some unusual noise for hundreds of thousands of miles... maybe I'll get lucky?
The first time we reproduced the sound was immediately after I changed the front output seal and bearing, with the front driveshaft completely disconnected. Maybe with the front disconnected and the rear rolling resistance, it amplifies the slop in the gears inside? Not sure.. It is pretty...
