i am looking for a direct bolt in if possible dont want to replace the trans as well if possible

I have a1980 bj40 diesel that has no compression found a ring broken and some wear on a cylinder also leaking valve seats. i have called a few engine builders and they are backed up for 8 months so I am looking for advice on weather to swap it to a gas engine or try to get a good b series...
