I am not opposed to trying it a well as the 50mv shunt as well to rule some things in or out

    Holy pinion angle!

I struggled getting anything useful out of my multimeter in regards to testing. I think it's too low to read with my cheap meter or operator error. The 50 amp 75 mv shunt was 8.99 for 2 on amazon. My FJ40 is a 76 so it did not have the amp plug it had the two white wires that went on the...

What I think I know….. I think the mv will be divided into the 50 amp so I think the 75mv will put less amps to the guage vs my 50mv (total guess based off of reading). Any help from a guru is appreciated! Oh I clearly am not sure about anything but here goes. 50 amp 75mv shunt is installed...

Thanks. I agree the importance of making sure the shunt is protected from grounding out! I was thinking a fuse on the powered side to the guage but heck why not both sides for added reassurance (will do). Now if anyone has the brain power/knowledge to advise what is needed. The shunts in my...

Still waiting for the mph decal alomg with posted in another thread hoping to figure our the possibility of external shunt to keep 50 amp gauge from going up in smoke

I have tried for days I promise! I can not find why when switching from a 30-0-30 to a 50-0-50 an external shunt cannot just be installed behind the cluster reconnecting the existing large white wires and then the shunt be connected to the gauge. What the heck am I missing here besides that...

I have exhausted (pun) way too much time on trying to figure out how to make the new gauge cluster work. I am specifically on the existing 30 amp gauge and now the 50 amp non internal shunt gauge. I have read a ton and fully understand how the white wire takes all of the current to the dash and...

One single out the back at a down angle. I was told about drilling a hole through the exhaust near the tip and placing a bolt through the pipe. It is said to change the swirl but I have had zero time to research if that is a legit thing

For anyone that comes across this the brakes were dragging due to master cylinder. I played around adjusting the rod between the booster and master cylinder with zero progress. I then replaced the master and problem solved. It is a long and cruddy story but the 383 stroker just got a new cam...

Couple fun bugs to work out. First when I put the roller tipped rockers on I added guide plates because they were non self aligning. Well yep I didnt realize at that point the head guide holes must be machined so the rods were rubbing the guide plates. Luckily I had a valve ticking due to...

Nice rigs! Yes on knowing every imperfection!! I too first restored a 78 ford 1/2 ton short box but when I inherited the FJ40 I knew I couldnt have two yard ornaments. I am back and forth on the fenders. I saved the running boards and the cut fenders and have always planned to bend some tube...

Ordered another swath of stuff to chip further away So far working bugs out: Now realize the return line from the tank will spill out on corners (grr that was dumb on my part). Front rotors both locked up - new ones installed now. Now back calipers/brakes locked up and appears to be the...
