After repairing the exhaust/intake heat valve I was installing the carburetor and noticed the insulator was pretty rough looking. Does anyone know the correct insulator for a 1962 FJ40 with a stock carburetor? Robert

So I'm toying with the idea of rebuilding the heat valve with something that won't rust easily. I'm thinking of a oillite brass bushing with a stainless shaft and reusing parts that are not easy to replace or find. Seems those two combined with the cast iron manifold should have minimal...

Penetrating oil, flat filing, some heat, light hammering and light grinding until it finally came out. The PO spot welding the butterfly valve was the biggest issue.

Matt, let me know if you can source the 4 bolt gasket. If it helps my siamese intake/exhaust has FJ25 stamps on it.

OK, I finally managed to remove the valve assembly. P.O. spot welded the butterfly valve to the shaft (Looks like the single screw broke off), so some filing and light die grinder work was needed to get it all removed. Luckily, no damage was done to the mating surfaces. The million dollar...

I sure hope so. I'm hoping my sand blaster will do a good job at cleaning most of it up. And then a good coating of high heat paint. Some copper sheet was my thought as well. Robert

Anyone know where I can get the heat riser gasket for a 1962 FJ40 F engine? It looks to be a copper gasket. It is a 4 hole gasket. All other years seem to be a 3 or 5 hole gasket. Robert

Pulled it all apart today. Here are a few pics. Hopefully, I can manage yo free up the pin assembly on the host valve.
