Hey. I do classic cars of all types and I'm working on an FJ and found you. Big story behind the FJ. Bought about 6 years ago as a rusting bucket. Taken apart, two years to paint, came home in pieces, all of them. It showed up in my shop to be...
I stowed my steel doors. Taking down the canvas and frame was such a chore there’s no telling when I will feel like putting it all back on. Next chore is making a storage bag for the canvas.
before doing anything,
first I would make sure the health of the engine is good.
you have other issues that need to be corrected
sniper or any other FI will not work well on an engine that has other issues.

Got the shop cleaned up enough to chip away a bit on this. Minimal body and paint planned, just want to get it back on the road (and off) and enjoy it.
Engine mounts welded in. Saginaw box and adapter kit in. Advance Adapters sold me the FJ60 transfer case support/crossmember but it isn’t going to work. Will order the propeller mount.
Coolest thing though was being able to adapt my original...
I see cruisers with mulch, 40's with green grass beside them, tops being removed, allow me to interject a little skiff of good 40 driving weather from the mountains.

I ended up needing the cable because the parking brake cable interfered with the alignment of the sender. Just enough to need the cable. You should be fine if you're not running the parking brake cable. I did have to cut about 1/4" off the cable...
I spent eleven hours dicking around with this today. Three or four yesterday. My buddy Chris thinks it's fetal alcohol syndrome. He could be right, I don't know.
I do know I burn a lot of brain cells figuring this stuff out, and it...
Been waiting a long time for this post. I upgraded my garage!
The before photo

It was restored by Amazonia 4x4
It was manufactured in November 1971 so I don't know if I have a 1971 or 1972 FJ40. I...
