I’m not great at diagnosing sounds but it sounds to me like either timing chain slap or a rod knock. Might be the chain tensioner is worn out and leaking down oil pressure when it sits cold. Maybe try replacing that? Might be worth pulling the...
So far so good! They are a lot quieter than my old open country mts. I haven’t put them through their paces just yet but they look like they’ll do fine for what I get into.
While the fender is off I decided to get rid of the retractable antenna. Going to reuse the switch for winch controls.
I chopped the oem antenna mast, and reused the mounting hardware by hacking up a cheap antenna from Amazon and epoxying the...
Finally got basecoat and clear on the fender, flare, and cowl. Lots of sanding, filler, mistakes, sanding, filler. Came out pretty good but needs wet sanding in a few weeks. I used rattle cans but definitely buying a sprayer for the rest. Going...

I agree, that gauge is great for checking pressure while idling or bumping the throttle plate. Checking pressure while driving (under load) is a different beast. Maybe drive with the hood removed? 😁
Here it is. I used an off brand supra pump from napa before just to get back on the road but after a few months of sitting it froze up and stopped working. I think it also didn’t like the hi-lo control that the stock ecu uses. I installed the...
And today, I went for round three on the dyno! This time I finally had some success!
My exhaust manifold was leaking badly before. Some thick squishy gaskets took care of that (my flanges had warped slightly and also the oem ring type gaskets...
