Thanks to Mud and Taos Offroad & Performance,
On last week's Outlaws Run I needed stripped caliper bolt holes fixed on my 80 and another guy needed a air pump on his 60. Norbert at Taos Offroad took great care of us. I found him here.

:clap::clap::clap:

Are there any Michigan shops (other than the two listed in the first post) folks would recommend? I'm hoping to find a good mechanic to do a buyer's inspection for a 100 series in the Ann Arbor area.

I'm from Montana originally and the two shops I used in Missoula for my FJ60 were Master Tech and Adam's Auto. Both did high-quality, very thorough work. Gary's Conoco is good for routine maintenance (oil, brakes, etc.).

Thanks,

Jon

Just found this thread--Absolutely a must have reference! Thank you (all)for compiling it.

So the list needs a lot of work. Some people aren't even in business anymore. So if you know someone on the list that is gone or needs to be added post up.

I split up the list because you now can only have 2000 characters per post. Added my company.

@tornadoalleycruiser Yes, that is the same fella that posts cruisers on CL. His restorations are top notch, and from what I remember, he does do work on the side. He is located outside of Wichita.

1987 FJ60 - Elsie
He lives just south of Mulvane by the casino.

That sounds like a lot of work and time on the inter-web :bang:

Is this list available as a .xls spreadsheet? If so, it could be an attached file to the very first post and members could download it to their computers or cells and always have it handy.

Just wanted to let the list know that Oldenburg's automotive in NJ is closed but will be opening a new shop near Raush creek off-road park in PA in the coming months. I'll keep you posted.

Looking for a fj40 Mechanic in NYC, any recommendations?

Thanks!

Not in NYC, but if you can venture up to Westchester, I take my truck to two places.

Believe or not, I take it to the Toyota dealership in Mount Kisco, NY. It's called Toyota North. They've done very good work for me, including a front knuckle rebuild.

The other place is called

Gallon Measure
106 Albany Post Rd, Buchanan, NY 10511

good guys.

I'm looking at a FJ62 in Southern California, having a hard time finding a mechanic to look at it before I fly down from Northern California. Does anyone have any other recommendations in the Torrance area or near by?

Thank you a ton!!

So, are you looking to keep it stock? I'm not in Cali, but I've been looking at similar vehicles. I want to retro mod with new parts. My goal is rust free. I'm saying if it's got little to no rust, it's a buy.

This listing is outdated. The phone is the same, but the business is now called "4x4 & More". Nice folks, but they fumbled on a simple lift install (I know, DIY). The front sway bar was on upside down, the springs were on the wrong sides, and none of the suspension bolts were torqued correctly. This was after I gave them explicit instructions and provided copies of the relevant FSM pages. Caveat Emptor!
