Mystery: my frame number starts with 32...the rest is blocked by the after market bumper. I wonder if the frame was shortened in front. Anyway, frame numbers starting with 32 seemed to be produced in 1980. Hmmm

Toyotas never had Chevy engines in them.

technically they did ... as it turns out.... when toyota started in brazil they imported CKD kits of land cruisers for a short time they were still land cruiser and not bandeirante... the early 25 series toyotas in brazil came with GM 261 engines.... how many is unknown

Late to the game but here goes:

1983 FJ40
2F 758509
VIN JT3FJ40COD3365294

I corrected the Block Serial number in my previous post. I finally found where it was and forgot to post the correct information.

4/79

2F 361177

Poser - with all this data does it look like this serial number is in line with other '79's? Trying to determine if it's the original motor cause none of the part houses are getting me the right parts...

February 1971.
FJ40
VIN FJ4097414

1971 FJ40
1952 VW Split Bug
1997 Jaguar XK8

Here it is Matt...

Thanks Kurt, I can only surmise that someone may have replaced your engine with one that was very close in production to the original. Yours is the only one that doesn't fall directly on the line.

Your frame is only 23 units different from firestopper's; however your engine number is 222 units off of firestopper's. Interesting. I wonder if there are any similarities between yours and firestopper's that could be shared, such as final destination (what part of the country), color, etc.

I hesitated to write that statement using an absolute. Shoulda known somewhere in the world it wouldn't be true. Thanks for the education.

That would be a 1F, not a 2F which is the subject of this thread.

I updated the file with these latest entries. It's looking pretty good, we have a good curve going. I wish we had more input for 1980s model years. Wish the 60 series folks would chime in.

I just purchased a 2f motor with the casting number of 80116 any thoughts if its original origin or if its a domed or flat piston configuration the person I got it from said it was running good one removed but its a 2 F and he said it was out of a 74 it was not the original motor to the truck . Any information would be wonderful greatly appreciated.

I should also include it has been decent and I will try to attach a picture.

The 1st I heard of the date cast stamp was by FJ40jim here on mud... Great resource

I would have included that number, but that's part of my confusion the original gray paint is still on it and there's no number stamped in the front of the engine runs expecting to find a number. Any comments on this odd phenomenon?
