craigslist ad -- not willing to ship - oh well - got them from Andy's Auto sport -- $300 shipped from CA to NC - oh well matches the price of the other stuff now purchased for the truck

update: - Andy's Auto sport no longer had them (called about 3 days after - oh well) but the good news i found some for $100 plus gas and 4.5 hrs of time -- but have found another set if someone is interested - pm me - so now i need wheel spacers and new lug nuts -- wondering where the size/brand best safest spacer to get and how many needed -

I ordered an 80 series steelie and a 7x steelie (OEM wheels) mainly to get some measurements of back spacing.

The 80 rim is 16x8 and the 7x rim is a 16x6 rim.

The 7x rim is basically almost the same as a 60/62 chrome rim minus the chrome. It is very nice.

Haven't measured back spacing yet. Plan to on Monday and I'll post up my results. I'm tempted to run the 80 rims since I run the 80 steelies on my 80, bu the skinny 7x rims are quite nice and I am tempted more towards them since I won't need spacers to run them.

Some pics (sorry about the upside down photos... New iOS is really s*** with photo orientation).

Ooooooo me likey the 7x wheel.

I assume 7x means it's from a 70 series?

I'll be watching for the backspacing :)

Nice Onur on the 16X6!
Never new that was available.

Mount a 255/85R16 M/T on that bad boy.
I love my splits but that would be nice too.

Ha! I did, saw a set on a 60 in Arizona once too. Very subtle.

Here's something I did recently. The 16" wheels were from my '94 T100. The 255 85 16s were from a flatbed dump I sold last spring. I couldn't bear to let those tires go with the truck, so I pulled them and set them aside, sticking some 1/2 worn 235's on it. So a month ago I picked up this 84 bj 60 Canadian diesel rust bucket for a grand, and it had 4 different tire/wheel combinations on it. I'm not real big on the slanted hole wheel design, but I had all the stuff and got them mounted and balanced for a hundred bucks. I run 33 950 15s on my T100. Pretty much the exact same tire with a 15" hole in the center, not a 16". Those are on 80's base line toyota 4x4 truck steelies. Been fairly easy to find in wrecking yards. On my good cruisers, I run the 33 950 15s with 70's type hubcaps on stock LC rims.

So when Mr. Toyota produces a new wheel is the metallugy the same as it was in 1980's?

Always wondered about the new parts not being of the same quality as the old... Im probably wrong here...

No idea. That is a question you would have to pose to the folks at Toyota Motor Corporation in Nagoya.

Does anyone make a 16" steelie with the clips to hold the FJ40 hubcaps?

Stockton Wheels built me some 16X8 steelies that fit perfectly. Do a search, I have posted all the specs and price several times.

X2...Got 'em and love 'em

I am running Cragar Baja 8s from Jegs racing. 16x8 steel with 4" backspacing. Mine clear the front calipers and Tie Rods no problem. I bought some .25" spacers to adjust my stance and provide room for pebbles and mud near the calipers but have yet to intall. 1988 FJ62
