So not to clutter the 40 thread I thought I would start this to post
40s I see and what you guys think.

Here are the qualities I am looking for in order of importance.

1. Relatively clean, but not bodean purdy truck clean
2. Ability to wheel at superlift (lift, armor, good mechanical condition)
3. Pull my off-road trailer (V8 motor)
4. Be a fair weather DD.

I really value your opinions and hope to find this truck to be ready for fall.
I am probably the least knowledgable guy on this forum so please dont assume I know something and please point out what and why something sucks or is awesome.

I also do not care how far truck is from Hot Springs since I can fly for free and can clear my calendar for a week at a time if I need too.

Thanks.

Good luck with your search!

"I am probably the least knowledgable guy on this forum" -- no, that's me...

Mike, the 1973...maybe get some pics on it.

As for a V8 swap, SO MANY of these are done terribly so be real careful.

I would be looking for (minimum) a V8 with a TBI fuel injected motor. Sure, carbs are fine, but for a non-mechanical type, a GM fuel injection is a no brainer.

Personally I would hold out for one with a Generation II or later Vortec conversion (5.7, 5.3, 6.0)

Remember, V8 plus an auto makes for a really short driveline in a non-stretched wheelbase truck.

If you find the perfect truck, I talked to Pat the other day and he has been putting some 5.3's in Jeeps lately for some guys and he said a turn-key project is running about $8,000. Keep that in mind when shopping.

This is what I would be looking for

That's not bad but I love the tan 73. That is a bad ass truck! Nevermind I just looked at the pics and didn't notice the date.

Did an Ebay scan for you. My thoughts:

I REALLY like this truck.

Clean....I like the A/C

Great truck. He is a dealer and shooting high. May take $20,000. Love the 700R4 and the mods. This would be a great driver

Love the mods, love the color. Not a fan of the bed liner and you can see some body damage on the tub, but the drivetrain is really good and it looks like the person put a lot of love into the "resto-mod"

Yeah, wish it were painted without the bedliner.

Hydraulic front winch. Interesting...

It is cool that he tucked in an electric winch in the rear.

This is the best thread going. The cruiser porn and anticipation of the buy are killer. Woohoo!!!
