Thanks Wayne, When I did it I was planning on putting it in the BJ74, someone on here told me the parking brake was in the same spot left of right drive. Ovbiously I listen to the wrong person so I am decided if I will do another one or just make one from scratch. Tuffy does make a narrower box that does not require modification to fit between the seat and parking brake it would be the one they sell for a suzuki samari.

Cheers,

Michael

no s*** sherlock...
Both Mike and Wayne have been here for a long time.
Both are very very resourceful.
Heck maybe someone has a shot or can take a shot of one.

Just a thought vs starting a new thread....

My Tuffy Junk Box

I tried to get a Tuffy Box to fit, but the 74's emergency brake is in the way. Here is my custom 'tuffy' junk box from a earlier post https://forum.ih8mud.com/70-series-tech/461978-bj74-storage-console-idea.html. When camping it is so nice to be able to find stuff quickly and within an arm's reach. The middle slide drawer holds small tools (tape, zap straps, few wrenches, pliers, etc.), the bottom compartment holds sunblock, bug juice, bear spray, bear bangers and the top flip box- personal junk, which is accessible while driving, (without driving off the road trying get 'something').
I also added a map book slot (behind the emergency brake). This eliminates the map sliding off the passenger's seat to a position that is always 3" beyond your fingertips.

I was hoping it would free up the dash, but the dash has filled up with
new junk.

Still its not as bad as this guy! LOL

So, Mike had pulled the 3/4 bench and original seat and converted it over into the BJ-7X bucket seats. This allows a bit of room in between the seats, enough for the e-brake handle and seat belts

Emergency brake is a tight squeeze, the console is right up on the brake handle.

Held in with 2 bolts to the floorboard, I will be removing the interior soon, so I'll show what it's mounted to on the floor as soon as I pull it.

I'm probably answering my own question, the rear heater has to be completely removed in order to install this tuffy box, correct?

Thanks for the shots
I hope your not doing this all for us

Any time.

No, I am pulling everything in the interior when it goes up on jack-stands for the re-build. Plus, I am getting rid of the black and putting in a tan/spice Tuffy console to kind of match:flamingo:
