Can this service specification make it into the FAQ? I compiled this because I'm consolidating my LC maintenance info and it's easier to reference now. If there are any corrections, please feel free to tell me about it!

* I got this info from geniune Toyota publications & service manuals. Though I have the Haynes, Max Ellery, Gregory's... I didn't consult them for fear of getting erroneous info.

Fixed it, many thanks for spotting it!

agreed.

maybe mike can create a sticky thread that contains general maintanance reference info, links and downloads with no chat, just posts.

thanks for doing the legwork drexx.

Good stuff. I'll pop it into the FAQ...

2fs take 91 octane??? eek hope not....good work brotha...

Engine oil, 2H: API CC, 10.7L (with oil filter change)

Someone using Castrol 20W-50 in 2H engines . ? recently changet from 15W-40 ( Castrol ) to get better oil pressure at low RPM ..

91RON

translates to about 85 RON/MON average I think (however mine would ping like crazy on 85 in the heat)

Vehicle: Toyota Land Cruiser (FJ-62)
Engine model: 3FE, 4.0L inline-6 cylinder gas-engine, electronic fuel injected
Automatic transmission, A440F 4-Speed Automatic: Dexron II

Also found a cool Toyo tech article on Electronically Controlled Transmissions at http://www.autoshop101.com/forms/h17.pdf

been using it for many years; excellent stuff; used to buy it in 55 Gal drums........brother in law who was one of exxons top lubrication engineers told me that exxon had never been able to surpass it, this was before synthetics but since the disasters of Mobil One in aviation engines 10 years ago have been reluctant to go synthetic!..........comments appreciated,

Lou

Awsome thread and info bro...just printed a copy off.

Thanks man,

6s -
Tell us more about the Mobil1 aviation disasters.

Porsche specs Mobil1 for all its engines, which is enough for me.

So I've got a 2h in my hj60, and i've tried putting in 10.7 litres of oil and it has 2x in a row been two much. I suppose i should have noticed the first time. I think mine is taking roughly 7.5 litres of oil. Just an fyi for everyone looking at this...

Question: does anyone know how much fluid the auto transmission takes on the hj60---the a440. Thanks.

As per the FSM:

Drain & Refill: 5 Liters
Dry fill: 15 liters

Great thread!
The h55 transmission has brass in itl. Some ep additives in gl5 "corrode" the brass over time. Newer oils can be "buffered" to reduce or eliminate this. It's worth looking into, even thought the manual does state gl5 can be used.

Pretty sure the wheel bearings are spec's for clay based grease rather than lithium like the birfs.
