shoes/seals should be the same as 40 series, i think it's just the backing plate/cable arrangement that's different.

Correct

Shoes, drum, seals, guts, etc. are the same as a 40

Backing plate has the cable enter from the right side, opposite of the 40

Cable is 55 specific, as well

Late to the party...

The mechanism that the shoes are pinned to and that the cable attaches to is configured differently for the 55 since the cable comes in from the other side of the backing plate.
