Can anyone tell me the model year? Decode the VIN maybe?

This VIN tag is on the right side, engine side of the firewall. When did they move from the door jamb? (or did someone move this here when they installed the aluminum tug that was on this truck when I got it?)

Door jamb tag was there on all USA 40 series from 03/1969 to 1984.

The tag pictured started being attached to the bulkhead in 1977, iirc.

K = 4-speed manual transmission

Mine is located on the firewall as well on the passenger side.

3/69 started the door pillar tag. There has always been a under the hood VIN plate. It started on the firewall until mid sixties when the heater blower started then it was moved to the fender below the battery until it went back to the firewall. Than started in 69 they were two plates on US imported cruisers.
