I owned a 1969 FJ40. Converted to diesel. In that the vacuum switch to on the 4x4 is not installed when i bought it. any place to buy the switch ? Is there a way to have a separate method to have this switch?

Hi All:

Chandi, this is a bit of a confusing issue.

IIRC on a 1969 FJ40 there is the 3.8Litre "F" engine with the J30 three-speed transmission and a one-piece transfer case. On this set-up there is a vacuum shift for the transfer case located on the dashboard.

You need to tell us more about which diesel engine has been installed in this FJ40, which transmission was used in the swap, etc.

Regards,

Alan

I would think you'll probably need some sort of vaccum pump. Diesels don't have vaccum.

my JDM 1981 BJ44 does.... i have the FD knob on the dash.. :)

Follow the vacuum lines from your FD knob & let chandi & me know what they go to. I'd also be in interested to know how your power brake booster is hooked up to the engine.
