Never seen the inside of a 55, but I sure thought that sounded suspect.

It's not push button, but probably vacuum shift, you pull a knob out on the dash.

Vacuum t case shift was standard. The rust is visible. No motor or gearbox(es). Rare bird indeed, but C'mon! The interior is not complete.....Does it have a/c and power steering?
