Not all that uncommon.

I'd consider it "normal" rather than a sign of impending doom.

P.S. What year we talking about?

Shouldnt the headlights get dimmer as you use more power accessories? That would be a worse sign then them getting brighter I would think.

I dunno... when I try to roll up the windows after they are already rolled up, my headlights get brighter.

1991, OEM alternator 1-1/2 years old

Don't really know who is offering bolt-on heavier duty (higher amp hour) alternators since we stopped offereing them, but I do know you can easily get a much higher amp hour battery that is the same size as stock (i.e. fits into the stock battery tray). My guess is this would be the remedy, or atleast a step in the right direction.

If your windows are already rolled up, why would you try to make them go up even more?

Could it be that the load generated is just enough draw to make the alternator kick in to 'charge' mode and push the system from 11.5-13 to 15-17 volts? (or something like that)

Maybe put a volt meter on it and see. If it's jumping to more than 17, you could have a bad voltage regulator.

IMHO YMMV
