I got my 80 the other day, and I love it. I will miss my 60 for about another weekl...I am very happy with the increased power and ride quality, I took a short road trip and have yet to check mpg. but seems to get about the same as the 60. Tires performed great in the mix of snow and mud, (note to self put mud flaps back on). And back to the power increase, For the first time in three years I pulled out infront of someone in morning traffic and they never caught up to me..Winter snow advisory tonight and I passed about 100 cars on the way home snow packed and icy the whole way and I never once felt like I was going to slide off the road..I am thinking of getting some 235/85 r16 for summer tires, anybody running these got a picture.

You're going to lose three inches in tire diameter if you do that. You don't know or say what gears you're running, but unless they're stock (4-11 IIRC), you'll be pulling some excessive revs on hiway. Which translates to higher wear and worse fuel mileage.

Sorry should have said 235/85 r16, I have been running 33x9.5's on my 60 for 3 years and they seem to roll really well, I think they would improve milage, and they work good for most of the off roading I do. And it is still stock gears 4.11

By my calculation, 235/85R16 is a 29.4x9.25
Let's call it 30x9.5.
If you liked 33s with a 3FE, I wouldn't suggest the 235s.

To be more helpful:

You were running 33x9.50.
The 255/85R16 mentioned above is usually a 33.5x10.00

Your calculation sucks though as the 235-85-16's are more like 31.75" tall so around 1" shorter than a 33"

i've got abuddy who runs 235/85 on a range rover, it works pretty well.
They are taller than a 31x10.50, shorter than a 33x9.50

probably a tad skinnier than a 31x10.50, but only barely.

I have not seen many tires offered in the 255/85 I will do some looking this would be a good size I think. Thanks for all the info, my calculation for the 235/85 comes out to 31.98x 9.4

Indeed, my calculation does suck. I did it again planning to talk $4!t3, but I got 31.72 this time.:flipoff2:
