Hi all,
I recently moved to the Charleston area...stationed at the Air Force Base. I have a 1995 80 Series with about 202,000 miles. Just drove from Maine to Charleston, to Kentucky to Charleston...the truck needs some work (running hot, some A/C issues, needs oil change, possible alignment, etc). Looking for an honest mechanic who really knows Land Cruisers with high mileage. I thought I would post here to see if anyone has a recommendation.

Thanks in advance.

Mechanics

McIntyre's on N. Lansing (near the intersection of Jonnie Dodds and Mathis Ferry) is a very reputable Toyota specialist. I don't have his number handy, but he's factory trained and knows the FJ40.

The above copied from a old thread on just this issue, McIntyre's seems to be the recommended shop. I PM'ed you another on College Park.

Welcome to the lowlands now let's get your high flying dog treating butt to a meeting. Good to have you here, and oh welcome to the lowland chapter of the upstate cruisers at least we hope you join. :flipoff2::cheers:

wow, Bear is mud famous. She posted some pics of her snipping horse unmentionables and drinking keg beer. You didn't happen to take a job at Edisto equine?

Welcome to the area. McIntires does seem to be the preferred Toyota mechanic in the area. I do all my own though. Join up. We have a HAMON coming in Nov. :bounce::bounce2:

welcome......dont mind Doc ....he has nto been the same since his bike broke down in North Georgia and he was made a backwoods love slave for a weekend.......thing is he wants to go back! :D :D

I retired from the air base 4 years ago.......and grew up here so if you need help finding anything let us know. Like was mentioned...we have a HAMOM (Help a Member of the Month) coming up so join up and get your name on list and when we all meet at Davids or somewhere the guys with skills can look at your rig. I already did my skids so I will just be doing the "scuba mod"....

Welcome again....ought to go to the Lowcountry Boil this weekend and meet everyone.

Welcome to the low lands

Ok Ok get your high flying horse treating butt to a meeting: happy Brock, any way Bear, we are happy to have you in the low country. Now witch way is north GA. Got to go!!!:D

Thanks!

Hi all! Thanks for the warm welcome! Once I get situated, I will definitely join up and come to some meetings. My horse-treating butt is actually now a dog-treating butt, which I haven't done since vet school...so I need some time to re-learn my job first! Looking forward to it none-the-less!

So far I am loving the low country--saw my first alligator today while walking on Daniel Island...s/he definitely had its radar locked on my dog...it followed us for awhile...I was only moderately freaked out.

.

Thanks for the advice and the PM's about mechanics in the area!

Hi thar B'ar.
Welcome to Cruiser madness.

I highly recommend the North Meets South event weekend after next.
It's our biggest cruiser event of the year. It's a joint venture of the Upstate Cruisers of which Low Country Cruisers is a chapter and Olde North State Cruisers which are mostly in Central and Eastern North Carolina.

The area we're meeting is federal gamelands in Western NC. There's some beautiful scenery, great wheeling, high bald camping, and much cruiser talk around the campfire.

There are extensive threads on the UC of SC and ONSC of NC sites under Clubhouse Corner on Mud. Lots of tempting photography as well.
The majority of active Land Cruiser folk in Carolinas are members of these clubs and a lot of them will be at this event. Georgia folks too, there are some active LC types down there that are UC members.

If your 80 could make all those road miles you should be good for this jaunt. If you aren't interested in serious trail work there will probably be a variety of street stock routes available.
The area is bear country and there are miles and miles of undeveloped dirt roads criss-crossing the vast forest/mountain lands. Trail difficulty is mainly mild to interesting with a few challenging sections for the hard core. Mostly just touring the beautiful WNC mountains at 2-3 mph.

Come up, meet 'n greet and get a look at The Holy Land.

she is Army if not mistaken....most all Vets are Army nowadays...never met an Air Force Vet. Do small animal clinics when not testing food and water on base. thankless job....

i was on operation one time and the SF doc was a vet....did food and water tests for us as well as sewed us up. luckily nobody pissed him off so no neutering was needed. LOL
