Matches the interior (sortof), has inputs for video games and doesn't block my rear view like the larger units that mount in the middle

And this is what the Mrs. got me :D

Oh SNAKE, I was meaning to ask the first time I saw them, where did you get the "Heyco watertight plugs"? I have searched hi and lo and can't find these things since the company was bought out.

Sweet extras! I want some! :p

You got pimped!
Does this setup help to switch the passengers in the rear to "silent" mode? If so, I'm interested :crybaby:

Sweet new surfboard!

Oh, wait... um... forget it.

the rear monitors do look nice- almost stock-looking.

You have a great Mom and wife. You must have been very good this year??

I think they just feel bad for me since I'm selling my car :crybaby:

I got them from a local electrical surplus store (SkyCraftSurplus)

fitty cents a pop and they work great :D

See those earmuffs hanging?

That's MY silent mode

Thanx :)

Unfortunately, I only get to surf the net nowadays

OK, the HU arrived yesterday

It's a Sony XAVW1

Here are some install pix:

I started by wiring up a Metra Toyo harness (solder/heatshrink)

Then I sized it up next to the factory HU

Attached the factory mounting brackets

sonyxavw1installpix5.JPG

Once I had her all plugged up and bolted in, the front panel wouldn't fit because of the wood trim

sonyxavw1installpix6.JPG

Didn't look right without it, so I trimmed the bottom portion off and it was good to go

I must say, the sound is incredible!!

Even with the stock speakers, it's night and day difference from the factory HU.

Since it's 5.1, I'll soon be adding a hidden center channel behind the cupholder slot above the HU as well as reverse, forward and rock cams (gunna put all of the Aux inputs to good use lol)

Added a power switch for the rear visors and mounted it in the moonroof switch panel

And here's a shot of the navigation system ;)

Oh, man... that's incredible!!!

Not sure if it's something that a  man like myself can tackle, but it's now on my list.:D

Thanks for sharing and enjoy the fruit of your work!

Mot;)

I'll be interested in the part where you replace all the crappy factory door speakers and make it stealth fitting behind the stock enclosures!

Looks good so far!

BTW- What are those 4 switches on the center console to the right of the eBrake? Lights... or heated seats?

Well, I do have some old KEF KAR 110m's and 160Q's laying around, but to tell you the truth, the difference in sound between the stock HU and this one is night and day

Even with the $h!tty OEM speakers, the sound is amazing :)

I'll most likely run it like this for a while until I feel like tearing into the doors

As for the switches, they're for the rack/bumper lights ;)
