MY 3/79 FJ40 sometimes does 'nothing' when I turn the key, or you hear a faint sound, not a starter solenoid click. If you get out and push it in gear a few inches, it will start.
I have a spare FJ60 starter, gear reduction type, from my 60 wreck I've been rat- holing. Will it work w/ no mods? I forget-
Plus, there is a green wire w/ a connector coming from the negative terminal on the starter solenoid- sound familiar? its' not connected to anything, thought it may have an application.
IIRC, the starter is a newish Bosch "Lifetime Warranty" from NAPA I got in a bind.

No problem. Bolt it in. Great upgrade.

Yup, went rite in- sure cranks a lot to start it- guess the battery is good after all-I now will have a 'new' reman Bosch FJ40 starter-

I am going to scam a trade- up to a FJ60 gear- reduction one.
