Well this is this newbies first technical question.

I was doing a tune up and a close inspection of my newly aquired Cruiser and was investigating the source of sloppyness in my stearing. I think the trouble is in my Center Arm Bracket Assembly. When I have my son wigle the steering wheel back and forth the first place I can see any real sloppyness along the steering linkage is there.

I have greased the assembly and made sure that the the top and bottom nuts are tight. I have not tried to tighten large threaded cap as it was very tight and I wanted to get some advice from the forum before I went much further.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I'm in the process of doing the same on the '76 FJ55. I hope you have an easier time than I do in dis-assembly!

Get the rebuild kit as it has everything but the housing and center arm.

Where did you get the rebuild kit?

www.sor.com but there are others around that sell it. I just happened to be there getting other stuff as I was passing through to Guatemala from Canada with the 'FJ55.

Canada to Guatemala now that is a long drive.
