Anybody know where they (or their equivalent) can be had locally? The military surplus stores have them on occasion, but not consistently. Thanks.

Dave,

High quality plastic ones are actually better - they may not look as cool, but the function and lack of contaminiation are better. Mainly, they are clean and they don't leak. I bought a whole bunch of the Nato ones from Ranger Surplus about 10 or 15 years ago. At first, they looked great but then once I used them, the paint on the insides started to come off. This and rust flakes are not so good for the carby.

James Asti sells nice plastic Jerry cans

If you really want Nato, this is a great vendor:

check out this cleaning kit they have, looks like a gerry can but is a field cleaning kit - wicked cool for the trail.

Marine stores like West Marine have good ones as well.

Hey John:

Thanks for the links. I'll check out the plastic ones - probably cheaper too.

The truck is done. :bounce::bounce2: I'm going to get it Sunday.

Ryan and his Porsche racing buddy/Weber guru spent two evenings retuning my carb. The dieseling was apparently caused by a "too lean" situation. Somewhat paradoxical, I know. They put in a spacer (which had been missing), a regulator and rejetted the carb. Also, I had a very frustratiing erratic timing issue, which they found - one of the distributor bolts was completely broken off!

Kudos to Ryan for doing a bang-up job!

Okay, my-self hijack is over.

Hey Dave, try searching on the outfitting forum for the "Scepter" gas cans. They're the high strength plastic cans that the military uses now. I think. Anyway, I picked up one if their water cans at a surplus store, and it's tough as nails. Probably not much cheaper than the NATO cans, though.

Thanks Felix. Will do.
