Damn I wish they made that SCS f5 in a 17" for our bolt pattern.

I don’t see a link on the first post for the database. I just got a 2021 Heritage Edition LC. What a nice LC. It came with new very cheap tires and I want to get BFG KO2s for it. What sizes should I be looking at. I have a 2005 100 LC that I run 285/75/16 KO2s on and it has been great. On it, if I used my18“ rims, it would be 285/65/18. Is that what I’m looking for?

I think there may be multiple instances of the DB at this time, but here's the link i usually share.

New here. Greetings. I am running 275/70r18 Michelin MS Defenders on stock wheels, stock height (currently) on a 2019 model. Slight rub at full lock turning left in forward and reverse. It does rub here and there if you hit a bump at the right angle.

For what it’s worth…I am running a similar set up, 275/60R20 Michelin MS Defenders on stock wheels on a 2015 LX570 as well. (I believe it is .2 in smaller than what I am running on the LC.) It also has a slight rub.

Additionally, for anyone struggling with the big tire question (that apparently everyone struggles with) the Michelins are excellent if you okay with a less aggressive sidewall look. I have run over 15 sets of BFGs as well as Coopers AT3s, Goodyear Silent Armor and Wranglers ATs, and Toyo Open Country AT3s, and Milestar Patagonias on various trucks including F-250s, Durmax Silverados, Subrubans, and Tahoes. All that being said… The Michelin Defenders are a really great option. Quiet on the highway, hold up well on gravel and rock, and perform much better than ever expected in Mud. I always seem to go back to BFGs, but wanted something quiet for driving clients around and the Denfenders have been really great.

285 65 18 and 275 70 18 are the go to options.

Go with an lt tire for more strength in the sidewall but necessity of running higher psi (harsher ride). With a passenger or eurometric if you want a more passenger oriented tire that can be safely run at lower (softer riding) pressures.

I think the 275 70 18’s look better…

Anybody have a good source for 18" TRD PRO wheels in matte?

with many of these aftermarket rims, I’m seeing a lot if 9” widths. Is that an issue with standard tire size? If I got from stock rims to a 18 x 9 can I run easily run 275/70/18? Are there any drawbacks to a larger width wheel?

The concern would be bead retention when airing down. Running a narrow tire on a wide wheel makes it more likely to pop a bead with sideloads.

If you look at the manufactures spec for tires, it'll list the approved rim widths. Generally staying on the narrower end of the spectrum is better if you intend to do any off-road and airing down. If you never intend to air down, it'll work just fine.

A few adjustments still need to be made but here’s a quick parking lot snap shot post wheel/tire install. OME 2” lift with 285/75/17 KO2’s on Nomad Arvo 502’s.

Back with more questions, sorry. Method 706, with 35mm backspacing, 17x8.5. I'm in an '18 LC, 2" OME lift, front leveling spacer. Is 285/70/17 the size I should be shopping? Or is that gonnna be too small? Just trying to get this right.

It will fit easily. You’ll want bigger soon 💁🏻‍♂️

You'll want bigger. I ran the 275/70/18 (33.2x10.8x18) with the OME 2" lift for a week and I moved up to a 285/75/17 (33.8x11.2x17). The 285/70/17 measures 32.7x11.2x17 so it's even shorter than the 275's I was running which I thought were too small. Now, you won't have any clearance issues with the 285/70/17's but I fear you will have upgraditis in short order if you go that route.

These things said, do I go to a 33x? Or taller like 295? I've bought nothing yet, so I'm still clear on that

Did you need to re-gear?

Did you need to re-gear?

I have not and don’t intend to. If I were to go any bigger, i.e. 35’s, then I’d definitely explore a regear at that point.

The stock 3.92’s are, based on available tires, oem for 31.5-32.8” tires.

Bumping to 4.10’s puts you at oem range for 33-35.

4.30’s probably gets you to the oem 31.5” part of the range for 35’s, or thereabouts.

Looking to buy new wheels. Can someone tell me if 18x9 +18mm wheels on stock tire size (no lift) will cause any rubbing?

Depends on tire size, but yes. Anything greater than 25mm offset will have some rubbing especially on front mud flap.
