Slowly picking away while I wait on a water pump to come in. Received the fender skirts from J @TRAIL TAILOR (very nice shirt as well). Put the 70 series visors on. And pulled it out into the daylight for the first time in a while. Had the fortune of @BigHighBlue hanging in the barn for the day so we could do some maintenance on his 60. And drink some beer and grab an incredible burger from down the road. Ben tore that burger up :).

The fortune was all mine. Man that Copper 60 is looking awesome!!

So not much work on the copper 60. Waiting on some plumbing clamps I ordered from a vendor here on MUD and I’ve been doing a customer job. Knuckles, 5-speed conversion, brakes, AC and a few smaller things. I enjoy this and have some time on my hands. Pulled the metal part of the dash on the copper 60. To Gonna take the glove box to my paint supply house and have him match the color with some single stage. Did this on my personal 60 and really like how it’s held up. Thought I could polish this one but unfortunately got some overspray from the OSPO rust neutralizer I used and it ate through the paint. Would not have happened if I caught it at the point of spraying. May also dig into the heater core to ensure all looks good. Already pulled the AC plenum as I’m doing a total refresh. Bought a new compressor from rock auto.

Working on a customer project, but tinkering with this copper truck here and there. Received the hub selector bolts from @ToyotaMatt and have to say I’m stoked I ordered them. I like the way they tie in with the new shackles and u-bolts. And it matches the center of the hub :)

Accomplished something tonight. Not proud of how it looks but it’s 100% effective and the cosmetics don’t mean anything as the new hood insulator will cover my sloppy work up. I used a different product (Norton) with my truck 6 years ago. It set in 15 min vs this SEM setting in 30. This left it too runny and had to keep working on it and made an absolute mess. Plus, the SEM was much stickier and I could not clean the excess the same way I did the Norton for some reason. Pics of both jobs included for reference.

Really great work in this thread! Any particular reason you went with the urethane version of the Norton product? I see they also offer an acrylic version that’s supposed to be for metal. I’m looking to do this same job on my 60 so any tips would be appreciated.

Really appreciate it. It’s been a really fun build. When you say Norton are you referring to the paint or the product I used on the underside of the hood to support the skin and the cross members?

It’s been fun to watch. I was referring to the adhesive used on the underside of the hood.

Ah yes. So on the copper truck I’m currently doing I did not use the Norton product but wished I had. My paint supply guy recommended a different brand he had in stock which worked, but was more difficult to apply. It was stickier and harder to work with. I used the Norton brand several years ago on my personal build and was able to work the material with real ease. Purely a cosmetic issue in the end. Both products function well. If I was not covering my work with a hood insulator I would have redone the copper hood. You can see the outcomes in these pics. I can provide a pic of the Norton product if you need it.

On another note, if I had invested in a real cartridge gun I’m sure the SEM product would be fine to use. The benefit of the gun is you can apply the product directly to the panel which is the correct way to do it. A gun will be purchased prior to my next build :).

Finished up some of the plumbing on the front end. It’s a PITA to organize and source all the right clamps and hoses but worth it in the end. Also welded up some holes in the dash and prepped it for paint. If the weather cooperates today I’ll shoot some paint on her. Hope to get the radiator in this week, prep the new AC compressor/plenum and start assembling the dash.

@CenTXFJ60 where did you get the tan paint, and is it a good match?
Hi Jim. Here’s the paint. My supplier matched it to the glovebox. Won’t know how good of a match it is until I shoot it. Will definitely report out on this thread. Regardless…if it’s close it won’t matter as I’m covering the whole dash, center bezel and glove box. And the fuse panel cover. That reminds me that I need to find that sucker.

I’d be interested in putting this in a pre-val spray can, and I KNOW @ChaserFJ60 would be interested too. Thanks!

I have 2 coats. It’s a shade darker than factory. But fine by me. Looks closer to the 62 brown interior to me. Gonna do one more coat. If you want a factory match I’d try your local shop and see how well they can match it.

I’m good with the color. Not happy with the glove box. Paint did not lay the way I needed it to. Will mount it and if it bothers me enough I’ll redo it. I know what my error was so I can at least correct it.

Ah yes. Enjoying a cup of it as I type. It’s my favorite
I need to find a store that stocks it up here in Montana. I haven’t had it in a long time.

My local store was out of it from Thanksgiving to Christmas so I ordered a 6 pack of this coffee off Amazon.
