Nothing too exciting today, but I did get one leaf pack rebuilt and installed with all new bushings and shackles. Added a single fj60 leaf after re-drilling the center pin. Stiffened up the pack substantially and I removed the very bottom overload.

Standing on the leaf pack before and after was substantially stiffer. Hopefully it holds the truck up more level.

Chucked up the bushings in the lathe to open the 18mm I.D. up to 3/4” because those bolts are more readily available.

Got the rear suspension wrapped up and longer shackles installed. Gained about an inch and the shackle angle is still pretty good. I’ll tear into the front this week.

Also got the exhaust started, but still need to add hangers and the tail section. Hard to tell in the pics, but it is tucked substantially higher than the previous setup and better access to other bolts.

No question. You’ll need a heat shield. Learned that the hard way.

Nicely done...

Front spring packs are rebuilt and so is the rear sway bar. Truck is sitting level and I’m really happy with the stance on 33s. Rear bilstein shocks showed up yesterday and the fronts will be here tomorrow. Once the shocks are mounted I’ll attack the leaking galley plug in the cylinder head.

Before and after pic from the day I brought it home, to today.

Rears are bilstein 33-185552 255/70 valving 10” travel and the front is 33-230368 360/80 valving 10” with anticipation of a winch and bumper. I’ll have to build new lower shock mounts since I ditched the factory u-bolt/plate setup for 5/8” u-bolts and plates from ruffstuff specialties.

Been busy with other projects, but got the oil galley plug drilled out and plugged today. Lots of grease on the tap seemed to do the trick. Ordered the wrong rear shocks, so sent those back and new ones came in last week. Hopefully get those installed this week and start putting some miles on this thing!

What bilstein's did you go w in the rear?

So which Bilsteins' did you go with in the rear? Not the 33-185552's?

Ended going with the 33-185606, which is an 8.6 travel shock. 14” collapsed and 22.5 extended. Since I put new u-bolt plates on from ruff stuff specialties, I lost the shock mount. I’ll weld new ones on the housing.

The ultimate plan is to order the 75 series springs from cruiser outfitters, so I was planning ahead and ordered the longer shocks but they weren’t gonna work how it sits now.
