The undercarriage treatment is completed. Next up, new shocks, suspension and quite a few small parts blasted and painted. We ordered a few parts we felt wouldn’t clean up well

Why sand blast vs soda blast vs dry ice blast? I’m assuming it’s because it’s what they had but is it what you wanted?

Blasting was never brought up. I thought they’d wired wheel and scrap off the scale. Lance made the decision and I’m extremely happy with the results. Looks almost new

Looks great Lou. Have you decided to keep it or go another direction? I hope you keep it or get another 80 and do more wild stuff to it. The truck looks fantastic.

He’s no longer on MUD....the quad set I built..
Feel free to call me .... I got into retrofitting LX470 lights pretty heavily and have built a couple sets of 80 lights

I do not have a set ...I've only built two sets of 80 lights...the quad set on my truck and a set for another Mud member

Finishing the upgrades has taken longer than expected but I was able to paint the underside of the hood today. One of the complications was figuring out the Lexus seats which are heated and ventilated. Since i already had switches for the heated seats that Slee installed. I decided to bag the ventilated function and simply buy new heated pads which would have a matching connector and plug right in... simple ..so I thought. The company no longer manufactures the pads I have and their new kit has a different connector and has just a High/Low setting. The kit I have has 5 settings so I called the US distributor and they had few matching pads that fit my connectors.. so the new pads are in and hoping to have the seat installed this week. The final icing is the trucks headed to a local restoration shop for a new paint job.

New paint job?!? You keeping the white roof?

Are you almost done with this truck? Some people say they’re never truly done but I feel you’re pretty damn close.

Yes, I’m keeping the roof white…the last paint job was cheap and didn’t have enough clear to sand and buff. So I found a shop close to IPOR that can handle that

I’m secretly (well, not anymore ;) ) -hoping once all the work is done, you change your miind & keep this MoFo.

It’s getting way too nice to let some trash-a$$ hipster from Austin (or Seattle) - get it off BaT.

Not yet and $45k is not enough to get my attention. I’ve had a few addition since the undercarriage treatment. New Slee rear bumper, new ARB front bumper and it should be out of the paint shop in 4-6 weeks. I had a few guys that were interested last year and not sure if they are still interested but I’m starting to lightly modify the LX470 so the 80 might find a new home if the numbers right.

After a 10 month disaster at a paint shop 50 miles away in Fredericksburg my 80 is back on track at Lindsay Lexus Collision and should be done 5 weeks. The situation in Fredericksburg is a long story and I’ll post up here soon.
So along with the paint I’m having the 2nd row reupholstered to match the front seats and adding seat heaters. I stopped by the shop and snapped a few pictures of the progress
The door cards after 26 years were pretty bad and since I was having the rear seats reupholstered, I decided to do the door cards and found new cut laser masonite 80 door cards on eBay AU, real quality and nice.

After a 8 month debacle, and the worst paint job anyone’s ever seen. My truck is close to home at Lindsay Lexus Collision. I tried to get them to take my truck last December, but they were so slammed they couldn’t do it so it ended up at the shop in Fredericksburg.
Here’s how it sits today

What’s the story with the 8-month debacle? What happened?
