Rob,
Any chance you are planning on installing cameras front and rear to record and upload the action? There are a lot of us who’d love to be there in person but distance unfortunately prohibits it.
Its already in the works. I doubt we will be able to do real time. Some of the guys even want to set it up so my Co driver and myself are recorded LOLOL I am sure there will be some interesting conversatations over the 8 hour race

We're committed now 🙄 Pulled all the glass and wasn't easy getting 55 year old window rubber off. 2 inch bed lift blocks cut and drilled. Kids are on the way over with a bender to start on the 1 1/2 inch bed cage and headache rack

Classic Cruiser's sent a used factory early air cleaner I will be able to modify to run a tube into the cab where the heater blower was for a secoundary air box inside the cab.
I guess a robust lunch with lots a beans for both crew members would boost the AFR a bit 😝.

More mocking up for the bed cage and light bar rack. 5 inch plates and 6 inch lower plates. Tomorrow we get to bend tubing

Bed cage tire carrier and fuel cell mount started today. Got the main hoop set and tacked in. Next mocking up the spare tire mount. Great day working with Josh and his girlfriend Andy. Both currently building their own FJ40.

good stuff.

Pretty exciting stuff today. Welding up the Marlin gusset and truss kit. Taking our time over the next few days so nothing warps. Thanks Bob @brooksfj60

So the many things going on at once. During the week when its just me I try to work on all the little things Like steering. Since moving the front axle forward and ditching the early center arm I started mocking up the later 1973 center arm. A Big shout out to Don at FC Fabracation he has been a big help with tech support for the cage and everything that has anything to do with metal fab. I started by renforcing the inside of the front frame crossmember with 1/4 plate steel, started boxing in the frame horn and machined a solid steel wedge to keep the center arm level with the frame. re drilled the corners and cut some tubing for sleeves for inside the frame between the outter frame and plate I used to box in the frame. Today I'll pull everything apart and weld it up solid. We are offically entered in the Mint 400 2023 Number 7319

Race update, Got the front housing installed and started getting the 3rd and knuckles in place. Really happy with the way things are coming together. @rockcod came up and we got the new tie rod using the Ruffstuff bungs and FJ60 tie rod ends from our Sponsor Valley Hybrids measured and set in place. We have some interesting ideas for the rest of the steering and I will get to those in a week or so. While we were working on that the kids Josh and Andy finished the fuel cell base and lower bed cage supports. Happy Thanksgiving everyone

I've been thinking about our weight distribution after something Don at FC Fabracation mentioned. We are going to want to keep the back as stable as we can going thru the the desert. I am trying to put this all together so the suspension is doing as much work as possible. Were not planning on runing two spares since we are still putting the bed cage together I am going to set it up so we can add another tire if after this is all done and we can get some pre running in we will have the option to add more weight in the back.

Is the varying weight of the fuel cell (tank) accounted for?
