Anybody tackled a full rebuild of their rear drum brakes recently and, if so, who is the best one stop shop for the parts (hardware, drums, cylinders, shoes, etc.). Mine is a stock NA 1982, so it sounds like it is pretty much the same parts as a 60 series, though don’t want to make that assumption if folks have seen otherwise. Thank you in advance!

Easily accomplished @ Cruiser Outfitters using high quality components, Japanese wheel cylinders, etc.

Cylinders: (order 2)

Shoes: (order 1 pair)

Shoe Hardware: (order 1 kit)

Left Hand Park Brake Hardware Kit: (order 1 kit)

Right Hand Park Brake Hardware Kit: (order 1 kit)

Unless it’s toast there’s no reason to replace it. It’s a rear, haha! Put some sandpaper on a shoe and do your own prep. Or drop with someone to cut a fresh surface.
Waiting for the truck to get back from a knuckle and steering box rebuild and will check those rear drums before I order. Thanks for the tip

Curious Kurt is the backing plate for 40/60 series with the hand brake available are at decent cost? Your links for rest are very reasonable priced. That would be the final piece to convert a 8/80+ FJ45 & HJ47 rear axle to hand brake. Believe a bracket would need to be welded to the housing to anchor the cable for hand brake. Pretty sure the fixed nut on the back cover would already be there.

The backing plate is available new OEM, they are the same on current production 70 series. I am about to start selling a weld-on bracket kit for adding the cable to earlier housings and diff covers in a few weeks

Yes, avail and in stock. The diff shell mounted bracket is quite simple to toss on an earlier housing.

Now to find some time to tackle this. Thanks, again!
