I ran the Seven Hour Plane Crash from Crandon, WI to Copper Harbor, MI. It’s mostly benign, but there is one short stretch in N WI that bit me. I tried like crazy to stay out of the ruts, but they sucked me in and I got stuck and had to use the winch for the first time.

I crossed paths with Dave and Amber @B1GR3DFJ80! in their new to them FJ-80 and had a nice visit.

Summer is the best time to visit WI and UP. Hopefully you brought a ton of bug repellant! If you are looking for some technical riding, there are options in Antigo, WI and Wakefield MI. Also, you can check out the off road park at Tigerton, WI.

Munising to Manistique, UP MI today most all off road. Hiawatha National Forest.
Needed to clear a tree off the trail to avoid backtracking to pavement. The sign was motivating but not true.

Drummond Island was in my original plan, but I ended up cutting it for time. My folks live in Rhinelander, so maybe next year.

I use OnXoffroad. There are “feature” trails, but most of the good ones I’ve found through map study and trial and error. Sometimes there aren’t trails where the map shows, and oftentimes there are trails not shown, especially under heaving tree cover. Other times you’ll get to a gate on private land, and other times owner let the road through. It’s an adventure. On Forest service land I try to back it up with the motor vehicle use map on Avenza to avoid closed trails and a possible fine.

The turquoise dashed lines are my tracker - where I actually went.

Spent the day hopping from lake to lake with some friends. Only caught 2 fish all day. Not complaining as a bad day fishing is still better than a good day at work.
