Took my blower motor out as my airflow was terrible. Turbine was stuffed with leaves. Removed wiper motor and cowl plates to clean them all out (stuffed there too).

I took turbine off and washed it. When I reassembled there was black soot coming out of motor section. Took bottom off to clean and these springs popped out. Where do these go?

Maybe to keep pressure on the brushes laying loose in pic one?

That is what I was thinking though could not find a way to easily assemble again. Going to just order a new blower.
 
They go in the recess where the carbon brushes go, getting it back together will be challenging.
Try using custom bent paper clips to retain the brushes as you re-assemble the armature into the housing?
 
That motor can be rebuilt with new brushes. Don't toss it out.
I found a used OEM (with cage & gasket) one that is on the way. I plan to offer this one up once I get that one in and running figuring someone can fix it.
